English version:

AJ, thank you for your time. Can you tell us about the beginning of the 2018 season, in which you took a great result in Houston?
“The beginning of the season has not gone to plan for me. I have been riding very tight and unlike myself. I’ve put in the work this year, and I think I added unnecessary pressure on myself”.

What is your strength? What do you think you have to improve?
“My strength has always been that I’m an extremely technical rider. The more difficult the track, usually the better I am. My weakness has always been trying to be aggressive for race day. That is a struggle for me”.

How difficult is it to be fast in such a high-level category as the Supercross? Which rider impressed you most, at this point of the season?
“The 450 class is extremely difficult this year. You need to be on top of your game to make things happen! Barcia has impressed me a lot this year, his mindset has seemed to have made a major shift and he’s confident again”.

You raced also in Europe in the past, which are the main differences between the American riding style and the European one?
“I think that the Americans definitely have the advantage on a Supercross style track, while the Europeans usually put most of their focus on outdoor. In general, I would say the Europeans seem to be willing to hang it out a bit more and go for it!”.

How difficult is it to race in every single weekend? In which way do you prepare for a race?
“Having 17 races in a row is extremely difficult. Right now I’m traveling from the east coast to west coast every single weekend, which is exhausting. During the week I’ve just been trying to rest as much as I can so I do not get sick”.

Do you follow the MXGP? Do you like it?
“Yes, I follow MXGP. I enjoy watching every form of motorsports!!”.

How does it feel to be a Supercross rider?
“Being a supercross racer is all I’ve ever wanted to be since I was 4 years old. I still have a long way to go to accomplish my dreams”.

Can you tell us about your Academy, in which you help many young guys to approach the Supercross environment?
“AJ Catanzaro Moto-X Academy has really taken off the past couple of years. I’ve put a lot of time into training the future riders of the sport. In 2018 I will be traveling out of the country to do some of my riding schools, which is exciting. I would love to do a riding school in Italy one day! Especially since I’m almost 100% Italian. I’m pretty sure Catanzaro is even a city in Italy, right?”.

Who will win the Supercross title this year, in your opinion?
“I think Anderson or Roczen will win”.

Which are your targets for the present and for the future?
“I want to be consistently in the top 15 in the 450 class, then improve from there. My speed is there, but I am struggling to put it together on race day”.
